This collection consists of 282 pages of daybook entries marked Middletown (1784-1792), followed by ledger entries marked Penns Valley (1790-1814), and a second ledger (1814-1827). There are also receipts, mostly interest payments to Elizabeth Gregg on bonds; (1839-1866); bonds and related papers of James Hamersley (1804-1863), and mostly empty notebooks with a few promissory notes (1839-1841) and ledger entries (1869).

Andrew Gregg (1755-1835), born in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, served in the United States Congress as a Representative and Senator from 1807 to 1813, presiding as the president pro tempore in the Senate during the 11th Congress. He served as the Secretary of State of Pennsylvania from 1820 to 1823. In 1814, he relocated to Bellefonte, Centre County, Pennsylvania, and joined the banking profession, staging an unsuccessful bid for the governorship in 1823.
